Ramadan Mubarak

It’s the second week of Ramadan, so I’d like my first post on this blog to be about Ramadan in Morocco.
Ramadan is a special month for all Muslims, it's like a fête, that's why spending it with family is very important , fasting alone makes this month lose its taste, I have personally already experienced Ramadan without my family when i was studying in tangier, the atmosphere was really different.

Ramadan is a holly month, during it people change a lot of their habits, some of those who don't pray , start praying, the mosques are full in prayer time, you can hardly find a place, especially in tarawih salat, which are prayers we do after the ishaa prayer ( ishaa prayer is the 5th and last prayer of the day).
Another thing you can notice in Ramadan is that cafés and restaurants close during the fasting time, but since Morocco isn't a strict religious country, you can find some restaurants and snacks open especially in trendy or chic districts.
when you talk about Ramadan it's very important to talk about food, in Morocco, we have a lot of food varieties, first of all the main Ramadan dish is our national soup called “Hrira”, every house prepares this perfumed soup, impregnating the streets of its scent at the sundown It is eaten along with dates, or honey sweeties (Chabakkia, briouats with almonds and honey).
On ftoor table (ftoor means the time we break the fast ), you can find along with hrira, coffee, tea or juice, it depends on what people like, these drinks usually go with Moroccan pastry such as "Mssemen", "Bghrir" or "mlawi".The second meal is dinner, and the third one is what we call shour, it's like beakfast, people take it before sunrise .Personally i often don't have sohour cause i can't wake up early in the morning, so i content with ftour and dinner :))
i truley believe that to understand ourselves we need to know how others think about us, it's the same with Ramadan, so to understand our behaviour in this month we need a foreigner point of view, i found an intresting article , written by an Americain resident in Morocco, she talks about her ramadan experience in my country, how she hardly understand some Moroccan's behaviour in Ramadan , well, i'm moroccan but can't get how some people think in this holly month too, i still remember that fight i witnessed last week while i was waiting for my Dad near the french institut, two people, a bus driver and a taxi driver, shouting and swearing, i heard at that moment all bad words u can imagine, my poor ears got dirty:))...well, nothing can explain such disgusting uncivilized behaviours but maybe the unbelievable jam made these people go crazy and lose control:))
well, read the article and tell me what you think about ...eager to know your point of view:))
Enjoy
