I listened to one of Alejandro Sanz songs (cuando nadie me ve) a long time ago but I didn’t watch the clip, and i really liked it then even thought my Spanish was so poor. Well, it has improved a little bit theses days but still a lot has to be doneJ
This morning was looking for some Spanish songs on youtube and accidentally I came across the video Clip of cuando nadie me ve…and Ooopss!!!!...At the beginning I was open-mouthed; I really didn’t expect this clip for this song….But It didn’t shock me…I even think it was well made, and really pushed me to think about the lyrics differently to figure out what the song is trying to convey as a message…I even spent a lot of time looking for English and French translation of this song, to make sure I understand what all this is aboutJ….
What is different about the clip is how sex is used to embody the message. When I watch some Arabic , or 50 cents and fellow videos, all I could say is disgusting, vulgar and derogatory….The strange is this video has got as much sex or even more but I can’t use the same words to describe it, indeed I like it …cause it gives u the choice either to switch ur brain off and to content with different scenes or on the contrary to switch it on to understand what the hell is going on there.
Sex can be an instrument to show love, care, and understanding but also violence, hurt and dominance indeed isn’t true that trying to dominate others is also a way to hide one’s weaknesses? To run from one’s fears instead of facing them?...at the end is the dominant really dominant?..
I particularly liked one comment about the song I read on youtube written by tuddsy1999, he/ she says: “it means that as humans we are limited by our weaknesses. We may love someone and hurt him/her without being able to help that, or even realize it. and we are hurt at our turn. But we may also have a spirit that can help us break the boundaries of our human nature, and be much more than human, carnal beings. It means that we aspire to be more than just what we are usually limited to be”
I jus love when he/she says”have a spirit that can help us break the boundaries of our human nature and become more than human”….So powerful.
Finally each one can see this video from his/her own perspective, u either like it or u hate it…some will find it too vulgar, but the purpose of posting it here is far from offending anyone but just to share with you my modest point of view about the song and the clip…..
