Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly...

Do u have a profile on facebook? Have you ever encountered a fake celebrity profile on that social site? Finally have u ever created urself a fake celebrity profile there?....

If the answers to the questions above are yes, and u live in a country called Morocco, BE CAREFUL , u can be arrested, tortured and sentenced to three years in jail or maybe more….

Ok!!!!:) u r thinking right now that I’m telling u a bad jock:), I really wish so, but it’s not the case…

Well, let me tell u the story of Fouad Mortada. Fouad is a 26 young Moroccan guy, he is an IT engineer and like a lot of young people around the world he decided one day to create a fake profile on facebook. If he had created the profile of Pamela Anderson, Nancy ajram, Preity zinta, George bush, Ariel Sharon or any other celebrity, none would have questioned him or arrested him, but fouad decided to create a profile of someone he admires, unfortunately this step has turned his normal life upside down forever….
The only crime Fouad did is creating a fake profile of a Moroccan prince, but in a country where some people are still being considered holy and super human, fouad was treated like anything but human.

I feel so sad and I am so disappointed …I’m even wondering, do these people who mistreated Fouad have a brain? Maybe but it doesn’t work….

Is this the image we want to give about our country? What a shame!!!!

Ohh yeah!...before this so shameful, humiliating facebook affair, Our lovely country was considered as the most liberal country in MENA region, where freedom of speech especially on the net is guaranteed, it was evident that in morocco there is no fear of saying whatever u want on ur blog, in forums and on facebook…The virtual world had given us a lot of freedom unlike some countries of MENA like Egypt, Syria or Tunisia where some bloggers were arrested ….
We were proud when morocco was given as a good example of freedom of speech ….but after what happened; morocco is considered now a country where u can be arrested if u create a fake profile on facebook…what a transition….GREAT, Hein!!!

In morocco we have poverty, we have prostitution, we have corruption, we have nepotism, we have…….well, a loooooot of problems, but we also have freedom of speech, we have the possibility to talk about our problems, but this freedom is still weak and so relative.
It is true that a lot of Moroccan newspapers have written abt the monarchy system and also some sensitive issues …but red lines still exist…

I really wish this stupid, and sick affair ends and finally this poor guy is out of jail, to save what we can save of Morocco’s image. The freedom of fouad will give us back the trust we had in the Moroccan freedom of speech, because I really don’t want to see other Fouads.
Finally, if u want to help him, u can do it, just click here

Thanks!:)
